The new CDC statistics show that 1 in 68 births are Autistic and 1 in 54 are boys. The Autism Society of America is the oldest Autism Advocacy group in America. We are an all volunteer organization that provides information and supports to individuals and their families living with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

My daughter, who was diagnosed as on the autistic spectrum when she was 6, had sleep problems from the day she was born, as do many children with autism. Not only did she battle against going to bed or to sleep, but also she would wake up throughout the night and then have difficulty falling back to sleep. She had no respect for night or day, dark versus light!

Joe Powell

I can't think of any time during my life when I wasn't affected in some way by mental health issues. They were always usually anxiety, depression and obsessive compulsive thoughts and behaviours but growing up from a small child without a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome, I tended to think that the way I was feeling was normal or that my feelings or perceived "failings" were my own fault and were as a result of being "stupid" or a "coward".

Charlie Edwards

  1. He can only understand 24 hour clocks, he does not understand the time in a 12 hour clock.
  2. Collects item's (note books, plastic bottles and other items.
  3. He always wears a mask to cover up his true feelings.
